Lebanese Army Chief Reaffirms Military as Key Stabilizing Force Amid National Challenges

Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Rodolph Haykal met with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at his office in Yarzeh to review the state of security and political developments in Lebanon. The meeting underscored the fragile domestic situation amid ongoing economic and political instability.
Haykal reinforced the military’s role as the only reliable institution capable of preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability. He described the army as the "lifeline" amid various internal divisions and external threats, signaling the critical role of the armed forces in maintaining order.
Additionally, General Haykal welcomed Father Tony Khadra, president of the Labora Association, and his delegation during a solidarity visit, reflecting the military’s engagement with civil society amid national hardships.
This reaffirmation of the military’s central role comes as Lebanon continues to navigate a complex landscape of political fragmentation, economic crisis, and regional tensions. The army’s position as a unifying and stabilizing force remains crucial for the country’s survival.
