France and Côte d’Ivoire Boost Trade and Cultural Ties in Latest High-Level Talks

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and his Ivorian counterpart Nialé Kaba spoke by phone on March 30, 2026, marking a reaffirmation of the longstanding ties between France and Côte d’Ivoire. The conversation celebrated recent bilateral activities, including the return of the Djidji Ayôkwé talking drum to Côte d’Ivoire, Côte d’Ivoire’s participation as guest of honour at the International Agricultural Show in France, and a Franco-Ivorian business forum organized by Business France.

Both ministers agreed to strengthen economic cooperation by increasing trade and investment flows between the two nations. They also discussed expanding cooperation in cultural heritage and museum sectors, aiming to deepen people-to-people connections and preserve shared history.

The talks highlight France’s ongoing commitment to enhance its strategic partnership with Côte d’Ivoire, a major player in West Africa’s economic landscape. This enhanced cooperation could lead to increased business opportunities for French companies, support Côte d’Ivoire’s development goals, and further solidify France’s influence in the region.

Given its focus on trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, this dialogue may help boost economic growth and bilateral relations at a critical time when West Africa societies are seeking stability and prosperity.
