Russia Condemns Deadly Attacks on UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon, Urges Ceasefire

Russia's UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, issued a strong condemnation of attacks targeting the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), following recent deadly violence affecting peacekeepers. The attacks have escalated tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, threatening the safety of international personnel tasked with maintaining stability in the area.

Nebenzia stressed the urgent need for all parties involved in the conflict to adhere to international law and protect UN staff. He warned that without a swift ceasefire, more incidents leading to casualties among UN personnel are inevitable.

In addition to condemning violence against UNIFIL, Russia called for a full investigation into an incident on March 19, where an Israeli strike targeted a Russian RT news crew in Lebanon. The Kremlin demands accountability for those responsible for the attack. This statement highlights Moscow's heightened concerns over escalating hostility in the southern Lebanon region.

The ongoing instability affects not only Lebanon but also international peace efforts, raising fears that rising violence could further destabilize the fragile border area, complicating broader regional security dynamics.
