CBUAE imposes AED1,820,000 sanction on foreign bank branch in UAE
The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has imposed a financial sanction of AED1,820,000 on a branch of a foreign bank licensed to operate in the UAE. The measure was announced from Abu Dhabi on 6 July 2026 and cited Federal Decree-Law No. (6) of 2025 governing the Central Bank, financial institutions, activities, and insurance business. According to the CBUAE, the sanction followed examinations that found the branch failed to issue a liability letter within the required seven-day period.
