A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Indonesia on Saturday morning local time, killing 47 people and causing extensive destruction. The quake hit the island of Flores, with the strongest effects reported around Maumere and nearby areas. Officials also recorded more than 200 aftershocks in the hours that followed.The tremor was reported at about 6am local time at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, according to the supplied material.
