UNESCO adds Normandy D-Day landing beaches to World Heritage List

UNESCO has added the Normandy D-Day landing beaches in northwest France to its World Heritage List, recognising one of the most significant sites of the Second World War. The designation covers the five landing beaches of Omaha, Utah, Sword, Gold and Juno, as well as the Pointe du Hoc assault site.
