France has ordered another 55,000 people to leave homes and holiday accommodation as wildfires intensified in the Gironde region south of Bordeaux, with crews battling a fast moving blaze that has already forced repeated evacuations.  🔗

In a separate development in France, UNESCO has added the Normandy D Day landing beaches in northwest France to its World Heritage List, recognising one of the most significant sites of the Second World War.  🔗

Security fears also dominated Europe after a vehicle drove into a crowded Pride event in Berlin, killing one person and injuring 16 others, while police continued a manhunt for the driver.  🔗 Romania said a fighter jet shot down a drone over the Black Sea after it entered its airspace, the third such interception in three days amid repeated incursions.  🔗

In the Middle East and wider regional tensions, the lull in hostilities between Washington and Tehran has continued after nearly two weeks of nightly US bombardments, raising hopes that talks could follow the pause.  🔗 At the same time, Iran accused Ukraine of attacking one of its merchant vessels in the Caspian Sea, saying one sailor was killed and another wounded.  🔗

In the UK, Wes Streeting said Britain should not be intimidated by Iran's sabre rattling threats of attack, as ministers warned against being cowed by the escalating rhetoric.  🔗 Separately, firefighters in County Tipperary said the Slievenamon wildfire had reduced significantly, although crews were still tackling isolated hotspots across the mountain.  🔗

In South Asia, India's defence minister said there are no talks with Pakistan currently planned and that any future dialogue would be limited to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, warning of a harsh response if tensions rise further.  🔗
