India appoints Mahesh Dixit as next Intelligence Bureau chief
India's Union Government has appointed Mahesh Dixit, a 1993-batch Indian Police Service officer, as the next Director of the Intelligence Bureau. He will succeed Tapan Deka, who has led the agency for the past four years. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, according to an order from the Department of Personnel and Training.The order says Dixit, who is currently Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, will serve a two-year term from the date he assumes charge.
