FAO says Nepal floods damaged 1,800 hectares of crops and killed thousands of livestock
ROME,11th September, 2026 (WAM) , The devastating flash floods that swept through Nepal's Bhote Koshi, Trishuli river corridor on 26 August 2026 have taken a heavy toll on communities, killing over 1000 people, forcing many to flee their homes and causing extensive damage to agriculture and rural livelihoods.Preliminary assessments indicate that around 1,800 hectares of crops, mostly paddy, were damaged, while thousands of livestock were killed. Rescue teams in Nepal are continuing operations at flooded hydropower tunnels after last month's disaster buried entrances and trapped workers inside. Nepal woman found alive after family began funeral rites as flood death toll rises
A woman believed to have died in Nepal's flooding has been found alive under the ruins of her collapsed home in Betrawati, ten days after her family began funeral rites. Chandika Kumari Shrestha was discovered beneath mud and rubble in a market town devastated by the disaster.
