The UN Security Council did not adopt a resolution intended to enhance security in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital channel for global maritime trade and humanitarian aid. Eleven countries supported the resolution, but permanent members Russia and China used their veto power to block it, while Colombia and Pakistan abstained.
