North Korea fires ballistic missile toward Japan as regional tensions rise
South Korea said it held an emergency security meeting after North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile from the Wonsan area on Thursday, in a launch detected at about 5pm local time. The missile travelled over the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, according to Japanese and South Korean authorities.
