Rare EF3 tornado and meteotsunami hit Wisconsin
A rare and powerful tornado struck north-east Wisconsin on Monday, damaging homes and leaving a 12-mile path of destruction through parts of Appleton and Menasha. The storm lasted 26 minutes before dissipating over Lake Winnebago. In the same weather episode, a meteotsunami was reported on the lake, causing unusual swings in water level.The US National Weather Service classified the tornado as an EF3, which made it the fourth tornado of that strength to hit Wisconsin in 2026.
