UN Security Council marks 9/11 anniversary with counter-terrorism focus on AI and drones
The UN Security Council met at the top of the hour to mark 25 years since the 9/11 attacks and to hear a counter-terrorism briefing. Ambassadors were taking stock of a threat environment that has changed significantly since resolution 1373 established the Council's counter-terrorism machinery in 2001. Briefers were expected to focus on militants' growing use of artificial intelligence, drones and encrypted platforms for recruitment and attack planning.
