US FAA Expands Gamer Recruitment Campaign to Address Air Traffic Controller Shortage

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched a renewed recruitment campaign targeting video gamers to apply for air traffic controller positions.
The campaign aims to address the persistent shortage of qualified controllers in the aviation sector.
The FAA's new advertisement, set to coincide with the opening of its hiring window next week, features imagery linking gaming skills to air traffic control tasks.
It highlights a salary offer of $155,000 after three years of service.
US Transportation Secretary Sean P.
Duffy stated that the FAA must evolve its recruitment approach to attract younger applicants who possess the necessary skills for the role.
He noted that the campaign taps into a demographic with strong technical abilities and quick decision-making skills.
This initiative builds on a similar campaign launched in 2021, which also encouraged gamers to consider careers in air traffic control.
The profession requires managing aircraft movements to ensure safety and prevent collisions, demanding high levels of concentration and rapid decision-making.
