19-year-old woman killed in dog attack in Essex

A 19-year-old woman died following a dog attack at a house in Leaden Roding, Essex, on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to Long Hide at 22:45 BST and found the woman with serious injuries.

Despite efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police arrested a 37-year-old man from Dunmow on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death.

The dog involved was seized by specialist officers who secured the scene.

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed condolences to the victim's family and acknowledged the shock to the local community.

Police have maintained a presence in the area and urged anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.

The force is also searching for a third suspect in connection with the incident.

Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
