Over 200 Arrested at Palestine Action Protest in London

More than 200 people were arrested during a demonstration in central London supporting Palestine Action, a group banned under UK anti-terror legislation.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests were made when individuals showed support for the proscribed organisation.

The protest, held in Trafalgar Square and named Everyone Day, was organised by Defend Our Juries to oppose the ban on Palestine Action and police enforcement actions.

Hundreds of demonstrators carried signs with slogans such as "I oppose genocide.

I support Palestine Action" and messages defending the right to protest.

The Metropolitan Police had issued warnings prior to the event, stating that showing support for a proscribed organisation is a criminal offence under the Terrorism Act.

Commander Claire Smart, leading the policing operation, said officers would act where the law is broken.

Some attendees expressed willingness to face arrest, citing concerns about free speech and ongoing conflicts.

Among those arrested was Robert Del Naja, founding member of the band Massive Attack, who criticised the police decision to resume arrests and said he would challenge any arrest in court.
