Cherry Blossom Festival in Berlin attracts many tourists this spring

This past weekend, Berlin's Gärten der Welt (Gardens of the World) hosted its annual Cherry Blossom Festival, drawing numerous visitors to admire the pink cherry blossoms.
The event featured a variety of cultural programmes across the park's Japanese, Chinese, and Korean gardens.
Visitors engaged in activities including dance and music performances, arts and crafts, and culinary experiences.
Cosplay enthusiasts also participated, showcasing manga costumes throughout the park.
The festival highlights the brief blooming period of cherry blossoms each spring, which are not native to Germany but were gifted by Japan in the 1990s following German reunification.
Thousands of cherry trees were donated, with many planted in Berlin.
Beyond the festival, Berlin promotes its wider spring blooms through a "Spring Map," guiding visitors to cherry trees and other seasonal flowers across the city.
Cherry blossoms can also be found in other German cities such as Bonn and Hannover, the latter being Hiroshima's sister city.
The cherry blossom symbolizes transience and new beginnings in Japanese culture, adding cultural significance to the festival.
