Kanye West postpones Marseille concert amid controversy and potential ban

American rapper Kanye West has postponed his scheduled concert in Marseille, France, until further notice.

This decision follows the cancellation of his headline appearance at the UK's Wireless Festival after the UK government blocked his entry.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez has reportedly been seeking to ban West's planned 11 June performance in Marseille.

West, who now goes by Ye, announced the postponement in a post on X, citing his desire not to put his fans in the middle of ongoing controversies.

He acknowledged taking full responsibility for his past actions and expressed a commitment to making amends.

The postponement comes amid backlash over West's history of antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi comments, which have sparked outrage over the past several years.

The UK government refused his Electronic Travel Authorisation on grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.

Despite the Marseille postponement and UK cancellation, West's European tour dates remain scheduled in other countries including Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

He is also set to perform in New Delhi, India, later in May.
