Three Arrested After Attempted Arson at Persian Media Offices in Wembley, London

An attempted arson attack occurred on the offices of a Persian language media organisation in Wembley, north-west London, on the evening of April 15, 2026.

An ignited container was thrown towards the building at around 8:30pm BST but landed in a car park where the fire extinguished itself without causing damage.

Three suspects, a 16-year-old boy and two men aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life following a police pursuit.

The suspects fled the scene in a black SUV, which was chased by an Armed Response Vehicle before crashing on Ballards Lane in North Finchley, where the arrests were made.

No injuries or damage were reported as a result of the incident.

Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution but were reopened shortly after police confirmed there was no wider risk to the public.

The investigation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing London, supported by local officers.

However, the Metropolitan Police have stated that the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

Authorities have also indicated that this attack is not linked to other recent arson attempts in north London, including an attempted arson at a synagogue in Finchley the same day or last month's arson attack on ambulances belonging to a Jewish community charity in Golders Green.

The suspects remain in police custody as inquiries continue.

The police have not released further details about the motive behind the attack or any potential connections to other incidents.

This event highlights ongoing concerns about targeted attacks on media organisations and community groups in London, although the lack of injuries and damage in this case limits immediate impact.
