US singer D4vd charged with murder of teenage girl

David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Authorities found the decomposed remains of the teenage girl in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to Burke's Texas address.
Burke, 21, faces additional charges including murder for financial gain and the murder of a witness to an investigation, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez was reported missing in 2024 from her family home in Lake Elsinore, California.
She was last seen on 23 April 2025 when she went to Burke's residence in the Hollywood Hills and was never heard from again.
Her remains were discovered on 8 September 2025 in the front trunk of the Tesla.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the charges during a press conference, describing the case as involving "lying in wait," murder for financial gain, and the killing of a witness.
Hochman stated that Burke allegedly murdered Celeste to protect his musical career, which she was threatening on the night she disappeared.
The charges also include continuous sexual acts with a minor and mutilation of a body.
The DA's office indicated it may seek the death penalty.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to Burke's rising fame after his 2022 breakout hit.
Burke's lawyers have denied the allegations, stating that "actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death." Burke was arrested at his Hollywood home last week and is scheduled to be arraigned in downtown Los Angeles.
