King Charles honors late Queen Elizabeth II on her 100th birthday

King Charles has delivered a personal video message commemorating the life of public service of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 100th birthday.
The message was recorded at Balmoral earlier this month and reflects on the Queen's steadfast dedication despite the challenges of modern times.
On 21 April 2026, marking the centenary of Britain's longest-reigning monarch, the final design of a new bronze statue of Queen Elizabeth II was presented to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The statue, sculpted by Martin Jennings, depicts the Queen in her younger years wearing the ceremonial robes of the Order of Garter.
The statue stands 9.84 feet tall on an 11.15-foot plinth in St James's Park, London.
Its design is inspired by a 1955 painting of the Queen by Pietro Annigoni.
The memorial committee chose this representation to emphasize her public role and strong sense of duty rather than personal hobbies.
Lord Janvrin, chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee, explained that the statue aims to convey the Queen's commitment to public service for future generations.
The memorial project also includes a bust of the Queen in her later years and a bronze statue of Prince Philip.
