US and Iran Warn of Readiness for War Amid Uncertain Ceasefire Talks

The United States and Iran have each issued warnings that they are prepared for war as ceasefire talks remain uncertain.

The planned negotiations in Pakistan face doubts, with Iran accusing the US of violating the truce through blockades and seizures.

US Vice President JD Vance is reportedly ready to return to Islamabad for a second round of talks aimed at ending the conflict that has engulfed the Middle East since February 2026.

However, Iran's cleric-led government has not confirmed its participation and has criticized the US for imposing a blockade on Iranian ports and seizing a ship.

Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led previous talks in Pakistan, stated that Iran does not accept negotiations under threats and has been preparing to reveal new military options.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have warned they will target any unauthorized vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical transit route for about one-fifth of the world's oil, and both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire in this area.

The US has maintained a blockade, which it says is necessary to pressure Iran over its nuclear program, while Iran has retaliated by restricting passage through the strait.

US President Donald Trump has described the blockade as "absolutely destroying" Iran and has indicated it will continue until a deal is reached.

He also warned that if the ceasefire expires, renewed hostilities could follow, suggesting that the truce may not be extended beyond its current term.

The ongoing conflict, which began with US and Israeli actions targeting Iranian nuclear sites, has caused significant regional instability and affected global oil markets.

Oil prices have fluctuated amid expectations that peace talks might resume and ease supply concerns.
