14-year-old Palestinian boy killed in Israeli settler attack near West Bank school

Two Palestinians, including a 14-year-old schoolboy, were killed after Israeli settlers opened fire near a school in the occupied West Bank village of al-Mughayyir on April 22.

The Palestinian health ministry confirmed the deaths of Aws al-Naasan, a ninth-grade student, and Jihad Abu Naim, a 32-year-old parent who lived nearby.

Local officials and witnesses reported that the settlers first fired at students near the school and then targeted those who came to help.

Three others were wounded in the attack.

Footage shows settlers firing near the school, with scenes of blood on the street and people running for safety.

Israeli soldiers were seen following the settlers after the shooting.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops were deployed after reports of stones thrown at an Israeli vehicle and that a reservist exited the vehicle and opened fire at suspects.

This attack is part of a broader surge in violence by Israeli settlers and forces against Palestinians in the West Bank, particularly targeting educational institutions and communities.

Residents of al-Mughayyir described near-daily settler attacks and expressed concerns about displacement.

A witness described the settlers as the initial aggressors, emphasizing the ongoing tension and violence in the area.

Videos obtained show the moment Aws al-Naasan was shot and killed, with friends rushing to carry his body away.

The second victim, Jihad Abu Naim, was shot after rushing to the school upon hearing gunfire.
