BBC investigation reveals Jeffrey Epstein housed abuse victims in London flats

A BBC investigation has uncovered that Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender, housed women he allegedly abused in multiple flats in London after UK police declined to investigate him.
The investigation identified four flats rented in the affluent borough of Kensington and Chelsea used to accommodate victims.
Evidence was found in receipts, emails, and bank records contained within the Epstein files, which were part of millions of pages of documents gathered by the US Department of Justice.
Six women who were housed in these flats have since come forward as victims of Epstein's abuse.
Many of these women, originating from Russia, Eastern Europe, and other regions, were brought to the UK following the Metropolitan Police's decision not to pursue an investigation into Virginia Giuffre's 2015 allegation of international trafficking to London.
The Metropolitan Police stated that they followed "reasonable lines of inquiry," interviewing Giuffre multiple times and cooperating with US investigators.
The investigation revealed that some women housed in the London flats were coerced by Epstein to recruit others into his sex trafficking network.
Additionally, these women were regularly transported to Paris via Eurostar to visit Epstein, according to emails found in the files.
This new information paints a more extensive picture of Epstein's operation in the UK than was previously known.
It shows an established infrastructure involving housing and frequent cross-border transportation of victims, which continued up until Epstein's death despite warnings to UK police.
The BBC investigation also found that British police had other opportunities to open inquiries into Epstein's activities beyond Giuffre's complaint.
One such instance involved allegations that Epstein forced Giuffre to have sex with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in 2001, which Mountbatten-Windsor has denied.
By early 2020, a second woman had lodged a complaint with the Metropolitan Police alleging abuse by Epstein in the UK.
It remains unclear whether this complaint was acted upon.
