Lebanese couple discovers home destroyed by Israeli strikes via satellite imagery

Joe Elias and his wife Diana have confirmed that their home in Qouzah, southern Lebanon, was destroyed during recent Israeli military operations.

Satellite images independently verified by both the family and analysts show the house flattened and several olive trees on the property damaged.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that on 6 March, five anti-tank missiles were launched from the coordinates of the Elias family home, injuring four Israeli soldiers.

The IDF said it targeted several military objectives, including the house, to prevent further attacks.

The couple has not been able to return to their home since the fighting began in early March.

Neighbours reported that residents fled after Hezbollah entered the village, leaving with minimal possessions.

The UN estimates that over 1.2 million people have been displaced across Lebanon since 2 March.

This incident highlights the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which escalated after Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iran's supreme leader.

The IDF has conducted operations across southern Lebanon, including demolitions in at least 12 border villages and towns.

International law experts have raised concerns that the destruction of civilian property may constitute war crimes.

The IDF maintains that Hezbollah operates within civilian areas and that its actions comply with the Law of Armed Conflict.

Qouzah is a predominantly Christian village strategically located on a mountain approximately 750 metres above sea level, offering views extending to Haifa in Israel.
