Woman Arrested After Two Children Die in Wolverhampton House Fire

Two young boys, aged one and three, died in a house fire in Wolverhampton on Friday evening.

Emergency services were called to the blaze on Mason Street at around 20:30 BST.

Firefighters entered the property and rescued children, but the two boys died at the scene.

West Midlands Police confirmed that a woman in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the deaths of the two children.

She remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Two other children and a woman were already outside the house before emergency services arrived; they were checked by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.

The police have cordoned off the scene while they work to establish the exact circumstances of the fire.

Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake described the incident as "truly tragic" and expressed condolences to the families affected.

She also urged anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
