Woman and child drown in west London park

A woman and her young child, believed to be mother and son, died after getting into difficulty in water at Elthorne Park, Ealing, west London, on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the park just before 4:30pm on 25 April 2026, where the pair were recovered from the water but pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that despite the efforts of first responders and members of the public, both victims succumbed to their injuries.

Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray of the West Area Command Unit described the event as a tragic incident and extended condolences to the families affected.

He also acknowledged the efforts of those who attempted to assist in a challenging situation.
