Fathers of Southport Attack Victims Complete London Marathon Together

Two fathers who lost their daughters in the 2024 Southport attack have completed the 2026 London Marathon side by side.

Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe ran the 26.2-mile course in a time of four hours and 36 minutes.

Their daughters, Alice Da Silva Aguiar, aged nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven, died alongside six-year-old Bebe King during an attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in July 2024.

The marathon run served as both therapy and a tribute to their daughters.

Before the race, both men were presented with the Spirit of London Marathon Awards, which include a lifetime race entry.

Sergio Aguiar expressed disbelief at receiving the accolade and said he runs to "spread her magic," referring to his daughter Alice.

David Stancombe said he was "very proud" to receive the award and pleased to see some of Elsie's friends participate in a mini-marathon held in London that weekend.

Following last year's marathon, Sergio committed to running six of the world's major marathons within 12 months to support the foundation he established in Alice's memory, Alice's WonderDance.

He has since completed marathons in Berlin, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, and Boston.
