Alleged child abuse uncovered at Indonesian daycare centre

Police in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, have raided the Little Aresha daycare centre following allegations of child abuse.
Authorities found evidence of children with their hands and feet tied, some with injuries, and overcrowded conditions at the facility.
The raid was prompted by a report from a former employee who claimed children were subjected to inhumane treatment.
Police discovered several small rooms, each crammed with up to 20 children, many under two years old.
Thirteen individuals, including the centre's principal, the head of the Little Aresha Foundation, and caregivers, have been charged with multiple child protection offences.
The daycare centre, which had 103 children enrolled, is believed to have at least 53 victims of physical abuse or neglect.
Little Aresha did not have an operating permit and has been closed since the raid.
The Yogyakarta government has called for thorough psychological and physical assessments for the alleged victims and has arranged trauma healing services for their parents.
The case has drawn national attention and raised concerns about the regulation and licensing of childcare centres across Indonesia.
Authorities have indicated that many such facilities operate without proper permits.
No public response has been issued by Little Aresha since the investigation began.
Police detained and questioned around 30 people from the centre during the initial investigation phase.
