Bodycam Video Reveals Woman's Arrest After Police Denial in Northamptonshire

Newly surfaced body-worn camera footage shows a woman being forcibly pinned down during an arrest in Northamptonshire, contradicting police claims that no such video existed.

The footage was shared exclusively with the BBC and depicts officers deploying metal spikes in front of Nadine Buzzard-Quashie's car before forcing her to the ground.

Buzzard-Quashie alleges her face was pushed into stinging nettles during the incident.

The Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police, Ivan Balhatchet, was found guilty of contempt of court in November and fined £50,000 for failing to release the body-worn videos to Buzzard-Quashie.

The police had previously denied the existence of the footage in court.

Buzzard-Quashie, 43, from west London and founder of a corporate gifting company, claims that officers also removed CCTV footage she was carrying from a previous detention by the Metropolitan Police six months earlier.

This footage reportedly included highly intrusive images of her using a custody toilet.

Both police forces have declined to comment due to ongoing damages claims exceeding £3 million.

Northamptonshire Police maintains that the use of force during the arrest was lawful.

This incident highlights serious concerns about police transparency and the handling of video evidence.

Buzzard-Quashie describes her situation as a "David and Goliath battle" and has spoken publicly for the first time about the case.

The background to the case includes Buzzard-Quashie's arrest on 13 March 2021 at her home in Ealing, west London, on suspicion of sending malicious communications after posting racist messages she had received.
