New statue bearing Banksy's signature appears in London

A large new statue has appeared in central London that appears to bear the signature of the elusive street artist Banksy.

The sculpture depicts a suited man marching forward while carrying a flag that covers his face.

It was first spotted on Wednesday in St James's, located on Waterloo Place near statues of Edward VII, Florence Nightingale, and the Crimean War Memorial.

The bottom of the plinth bears the scrawled name 'Banksy', leading to speculation that the artist is behind the work.

However, Banksy has not confirmed the statue as his creation.

The artist is known for stencil-style graffiti and has previously installed statues in London.

Banksy's previous statue, The Drinker, was installed in 2004 on Shaftesbury Avenue but was stolen soon after.

His recent works in London include murals and an animal-themed trail featuring various creatures such as goats, elephants, and gorillas.

These pieces often appear covertly and are later confirmed by Banksy on his social media accounts.
