Burnley head coach Scott Parker leaves club after Premier League relegation

Burnley Football Club has announced that head coach Scott Parker has left the club by mutual consent following their relegation from the Premier League.
The decision comes eight days after Burnley's demotion was confirmed with a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on 22 April 2026.
Burnley secured only four wins in 34 league games this season and managed just one point from their last eight matches.
The club's poor form extended to cup competitions, with early exits from both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup at the hands of lower-league teams Mansfield and Cardiff respectively.
Parker's assistant, Mike Jackson, has been appointed interim head coach for the remaining four games of the season, starting with an away match against Leeds United.
Parker had been in charge since July 2024, signing a three-year contract and leading Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt by finishing second in the Championship in the 2024-25 season.
The relegation marks Burnley's return to the Championship for the second time in three seasons.
Despite a strong start to the current campaign with three wins in nine matches, a subsequent seven-game losing streak saw the club slip into the relegation zone.
Although the team showed resilience with several draws against top clubs, heavy defeats towards the end of the season intensified calls for managerial change.
