Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing two Jewish men in London

A 45-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing attack on two Jewish men in Golders Green, north London.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, with police responding shortly after 11am to reports of the attack.
The suspect, Essa Suleiman, faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Both victims, aged 34 and 76, were stabbed on Highfield Avenue and taken to hospital.
The victims remain in stable condition.
The younger victim, Shloime Rand, has been discharged and is recovering at home, while the older victim, Moshe Ben Baila, remains hospitalized.
Specialist officers are providing support to the victims as their recovery continues.
This attack is part of a series of hate crimes targeting the Jewish community in the area.
The UK government has responded by raising the national terrorism threat level to "severe," indicating that another attack is highly likely within the next six months.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged to increase security measures for the Jewish community following criticism that the government had not done enough to protect them.
The suspect, a British national born in Somalia, has a history of serious violence and mental health issues.
Authorities confirmed that Suleiman had previously been referred to the counter-radicalisation Prevent programme in 2020.
