Two arrested over arson attack on Golders Green memorial wall
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a memorial wall in Golders Green, north London, was damaged on 27 April.
The Metropolitan Police said a 46-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were detained on Monday morning in Romford as part of a counter-terror policing investigation.
Both remain in custody at a London police station.
Police said officers were also searching an address in Romford.
Commander Helen Flanagan said the force was committed to protecting vulnerable communities in the capital.
The wall had been used to display photos of protesters killed by the Iranian government during a crackdown on demonstrations in January.
It also included a section commemorating those killed in the 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova music festival in Israel.
The case matters because it involves a site linked to both Iranian protest victims and the Nova festival attack, and is being treated within a counter-terror policing framework.
That places the incident within a wider security response in London.
