UAE intercepts missiles and reports drone-hit fire at Fujairah oil zone
The United Arab Emirates says it intercepted three missiles launched from Iran and that a fourth fell into the sea, in what it described as the first such attack since the ceasefire.
Officials also said a drone strike sparked a large fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.
The UAE Defence Ministry said its air defences were activated overnight.
The country sent a phone alert warning residents of potential missile threats, before later saying the situation was safe.
Authorities said three people, all Indian nationals, were taken to hospital for treatment after the strike on the Fujairah site.
Civil defence teams were deployed to contain the blaze, according to local officials.
The incident matters because Fujairah is the UAE's biggest port and oil storage facility, and the attack has raised concern about energy infrastructure and regional security.
Reports of the strike also came as flights headed for Dubai were held or diverted.
The UAE said it reserves the right to respond to the attacks and described them as treacherous.
The interior ministry later said people could resume normal activities while remaining cautious and taking necessary precautions.
The reported missile interceptions and the fire at Fujairah come amid heightened tension in the region.
One report said the attacks were linked to Iran, while the UAE said the missiles were launched from Iran.
