Millions across England, Scotland and Wales to vote in key elections
Millions of people across England, Scotland and Wales are due to vote in the largest set of polls since the 2024 general election.
Polling stations open on Thursday 7 May from 07:00 BST to 22:00 BST, with results expected on Friday and over the weekend.
Voters in Scotland and Wales will choose who should run their national parliaments, while seats on councils and mayoral contests are also being decided in parts of England.
All 129 Members of the Scottish Parliament are up for re-election, while 92 seats are being contested in the expanded Welsh Senedd.
In England, about 5,000 councillors across 136 local authorities, along with six mayors, are on the ballot.
The elections are the second set held during the premiership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and are being seen as the biggest test of public opinion since Labour won the general election in 2024.
The results will shape who controls services including schools, social care, rubbish collection and transport in the areas voting.
In Scotland, the vote will determine who governs key devolved areas such as health and education.
In Wales, the party winning the most seats in the Senedd would be expected to lead the Welsh government and set policy on devolved issues.
