France resumes genocide probe into Agathe Habyarimana
France's judiciary has ordered the resumption of a long-running investigation into allegations that Agathe Habyarimana was complicit in the 1994 Rwanda genocide.
The case concerns the widow of Rwanda's former president, Juvenal Habyarimana, and allegations of complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity.
Investigating magistrates had dismissed the probe last year, saying there was insufficient evidence.
The judiciary has now overturned that decision and sent the investigation back to magistrates.
The probe began in France in 2007 and has been running for almost two decades.
The ruling matters because it keeps alive one of the most closely watched legal cases linked to the Rwanda genocide.
It also shows that French judges are still examining allegations tied to events in 1994.
Agathe Habyarimana has long been at the centre of the inquiry, which has moved through several stages since it was opened.
The latest decision means the case will continue rather than end with the earlier dismissal.
