Gript Media suspends editor John McGuirk amid governance process
Gript Media says it has suspended its editor, John McGuirk, pending an internal process concerning governance and related issues.
The company said the move is not related to editorial differences.
In a statement issued on Friday evening, Gript Media said no final determination has been made and that it cannot comment further while the process is ongoing.
The company did not give further details about the issues under review.
Mr McGuirk also issued a statement, saying the company's announcement was made unilaterally and without his consent.
He said he rejects the substance of the claim against him entirely and without equivocation.
He also disputed the existence of a proper process, saying the matter has been ongoing for six weeks without resolution.
Mr McGuirk said he had not been invited to a meeting, asked to give evidence or given a meaningful chance to respond to the company's concerns.
The dispute matters because it involves the leadership and governance of a media organisation rather than an editorial disagreement.
