The result was presented by WAM from Abu Dhabi on 22nd May, 2026. It was described as evidence of the country's expanding role in regional sustainable mobility and future technologies.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure linked the performance to the National Electric Vehicles Policy, launched in 2023. The policy is intended to accelerate EV adoption, expand charging infrastructure, and stimulate investment in sustainable mobility solutions in support of a smart and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the ministry, said the report reflects a forward-looking vision aimed at establishing the UAE as a global hub for sustainable mobility and innovation in the energy and transportation sectors. He said the report confirms success in creating an attractive environment for electric vehicle manufacturers and expanding their presence in the local market.

Al Oloma said this aligns with the transformational "Global EV Market" project, the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, and the Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative. He also said the ministry, with public and private sector partners, is continuing to develop an integrated ecosystem to support EV expansion through charging infrastructure and investment in green mobility solutions.
The ministry said the launch of UAEV is a strategic step toward an advanced nationwide charging network. It said the network is meant to support wider EV adoption and improve future infrastructure readiness.
