EU renews cyber-attack sanctions, Ukraine and others align with Council decision

The Council of the EU said on 11 May 2026 that it adopted Decision (CFSP) 2026/1079 on restrictive measures against cyber-attacks threatening the Union or its member states. The decision renewed the existing measures until 18 May 2027.

The Council also updated the statements of reasons for including four persons and one entity in the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies subject to the restrictive measures. The statement does not name the listed persons or entity.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine aligned themselves with the Council decision. They said they would ensure that their national policies conform to the decision.

The European Union said it takes note of the commitment and welcomes it. The notice was issued as a statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU.
