Palestinians injured in separate settler attacks across the West Bank
Several Palestinians have been injured in a series of separate attacks across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. The incidents were reported on Thursday in Bani Naim, east of Hebron, Abu Njeim, southeast of Bethlehem, and Khirbet Emneizal in the South Hebron Hills. The reports also said more than 30 people were arrested across the occupied territory on the same day.

Wafa said a 16-year-old Palestinian boy was shot in the chest by Israeli forces in Bani Naim and taken to hospital, where he is in stable condition. In Abu Njeim, settlers beat a 30-year-old man who is now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. In Khirbet Emneizal, settlers attacked several members of the same family, stole sheep, and assaulted residents before Israeli forces arrived.
Seven people were arrested in that incident, according to the report. The reported violence comes amid a wider rise in attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank since the war in Gaza began in 2023. The same report cited figures from the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office saying Israeli forces arrested 32 people across the West Bank on Thursday, including 13 in Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.
The arrests and injuries add to an already tense security environment across the territory, where local communities have faced repeated confrontations and property losses. The incidents are significant because they involve multiple locations in a single day and include both injuries and theft of livestock, which can affect livelihoods in rural areas. The South Hebron Hills, Bethlehem area and Hebron governorate have all been frequent flashpoints in the wider conflict, and the latest reports suggest that violence there remains active.

The arrests also indicate that the security response is continuing across the territory, rather than being confined to one locality. The report also placed the events in a broader legal and political context. It said the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has described settler attacks on Palestinians or their property as occurring six times a day on average so far this year, the highest rate on record.
The same row noted that all Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law, and that the International Court of Justice said in July 2024 that Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories is unlawful and should end as rapidly as possible. What remains unclear from the available reports is whether the separate incidents were coordinated or whether the arrests are linked to the attacks on Palestinians. It is also not clear what charges, if any, the detained people may face, or whether any further injuries were reported later in the day.
The situation is likely to remain fluid as local authorities and humanitarian agencies monitor the impact on communities across the occupied West Bank.
