Egyptian exports to China jump 200% to $840.8 million in first half of 2026

Egyptian exports to China rose by approximately 200% year-on-year to $840.8 million in the first six months of 2026, according to data from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The figure compares with $280.5 million in the same period in 2025.

CAPMAS said Egypt's imports from China increased by 14.3% to $10.4 billion in the first half of the year. Total bilateral trade reached $11.3 billion in the period, up 21.5% from $9.3 billion a year earlier.

The data was released as Chinese President Xi Jinping made a two-day state visit to Egypt, his first in a decade. The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China.

The two countries are seeking to improve cooperation in trade, investment, industrial localization, technology and defence, while Egypt works to attract foreign direct investment, develop its industrial base and diversify international partnerships. CAPMAS said fuel, mineral oils and their distillation products were Egypt's top exports to China at $494 million, while electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment led imports at $4.1 billion.
