Switzerland hosts OSCE conference in Zug on de-escalation after cyber incidents

Switzerland convened a high-level OSCE conference in Zug on 29 September 2026 to discuss how to prevent escalation after cyber incidents. Bundesrat Ignazio Cassis, who is chairing the OSCE and heads the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the role of dialogue in reducing the risk of escalation. Bundesrat Martin Pfister, head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, underlined the importance of preventive measures.

The two-day conference is titled "De-escalation in Cyberspace: Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy." It is the last thematic conference before the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Lugano on 3 and 4 December 2026.
