Israeli drone strike in southern Gaza and settler shooting near Ramallah kill two Palestinians
An Israeli drone strike in southern Gaza and a settler shooting in the occupied West Bank have killed two Palestinians, according to medical and official Palestinian statements. The Gaza strike hit a tent sheltering displaced people in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, while the West Bank killing took place in the village of Yasuf, north of Ramallah. The incidents came as violence continued across both territories on Thursday.

In Gaza, the body of Tamer al-Hamayda, 42, and three wounded people were taken to Nasser Medical Complex after the drone strike, medical personnel said. The strike hit a tent used by displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi area on the southern coast of the Gaza Strip. A separate Palestinian also died from wounds sustained in an earlier drone strike on Tuesday in Jabalia refugee camp, according to the same medical source.
The Gaza Health Ministry said eight people were killed and 26 wounded in the previous 24 hours, bringing the toll since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025 to 1,439 dead and 5,052 injured. It also said 834 bodies had been recovered from the rubble. The ministry said Israel's war on Gaza has killed at least 74,040 Palestinians and wounded 175,168 since October 2023.
Israeli forces also carried out a large-scale demolition operation targeting buildings east of Gaza City's al-Tuffah neighbourhood. In the West Bank, 51-year-old Mashhour Yassin was shot dead by settler gunfire during a raid on Yasuf, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. Another Palestinian was wounded in the same attack.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Israeli forces detained an ambulance, removed its key and threw it aside, describing the episode as evidence of coordination between settlers and occupation forces. Yasuf's mayor said dozens of armed settlers attacked the village, which lies between four Israeli settlements. The killings add to a wider pattern of violence that has continued despite the ceasefire in Gaza.
The figures cited by the Gaza Health Ministry indicate that deaths and injuries have continued to rise after the truce began, while the West Bank attack underscores the persistence of settler violence in areas under Israeli occupation. The incidents also come against the backdrop of repeated drone strikes, demolition activity and reported attacks on medical access. What remains unclear is whether there will be any immediate change in the pattern of attacks or any formal response from Israeli authorities to the latest deaths.
It is also not clear whether the wounded in Gaza and the West Bank will recover or whether further operations will follow in the same areas. The next developments to watch are any official military comment, updates from hospitals and any further escalation in Gaza or around Ramallah.
