USSTRATCOM said the exercise engages joint-force personnel across the entire strategic landscape, bringing together all components, subordinate units and specialized task forces. The stated objective is to ensure a safe, secure, effective and credible strategic deterrent force.
The command said Global Thunder 27 is a standing annual exercise and is not being conducted in response to actions by any nation, other actors or current world events. It said the training includes real-time coordination across multiple domains and simulates complex scenarios to evaluate decision-making networks, logistical agility and retaliatory capabilities.
USSTRATCOM also said the public may notice an increase in strategic bomber and support aircraft flights nationwide during the exercise. The command said the activity is intended to maintain a constant state of readiness to safeguard national security and preserve global stability.
