Lebanese PM Vows No Retreat on War Decision Amid Ongoing Bombardments

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reaffirmed the government's firm position on maintaining control over decisions concerning war and peace despite ongoing warfare across Lebanon. He reported that Beirut, its southern suburb, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley have faced continuous bombardments for more than ten days.
The conflict has inflicted significant human and material damage, leading to casualties, widespread destruction, and population displacement. Salam stressed that the government had repeatedly warned against engaging in this conflict and tried to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into it.
The Prime Minister noted that Lebanon did not seek this war and has worked to halt it, but the situation remains dire as attacks persist. This stance highlights the government’s refusal to yield under pressure and its commitment to safeguarding Lebanese sovereignty and security.
The ongoing violence has severe ramifications for civilians across affected regions, raising urgent concerns about escalating humanitarian needs and the stability of the country amidst wider regional tensions.
