Four teenagers arrested after fatal stabbing of 16-year-old boy in Peterborough

Four teenagers have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy near the Ortongate Shopping Centre in Peterborough on Sunday evening.

The attack occurred at about 19:00 BST, with the victim later dying in hospital.

Police have established that the stabbing was not a random act.

A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, both from Peterborough, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Two girls aged 16 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, with the 16-year-old also held for possession of a bladed article.

All remain in police custody.

The incident prompted a significant emergency response, including two ambulances, three ambulance officer vehicles, a Hazardous Area Response Team, and a Magpas air ambulance response car.

Despite efforts, the victim died later that evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott of the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit confirmed ongoing contact with the victim's family and reassured the public that police presence would remain high in the area.
