UK Delivers Largest-Ever Shipment of Drones to Ukraine

The United Kingdom has begun delivering 120,000 drones to Ukraine, marking the largest shipment of its kind amid the ongoing conflict.

The package includes long-range strike drones, reconnaissance drones, logistics drones, and maritime drones, many produced by UK-based companies.

The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed that deliveries started in April 2026.

Defence Secretary John Healey described the shipment as a "big boost" for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of sustained support despite global distractions, particularly the conflict in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently noted the increasing role of drones in the conflict, highlighting that Ukrainian forces captured a Russian position using ground-based and aerial drones alone for the first time.

This underscores the growing significance of drone warfare in the region.

The shipment arrives as the war in Ukraine enters its fifth year, with ongoing Russian attacks reported in areas such as Sumy and Odesa following the expiry of a ceasefire intended to mark Orthodox Easter.

Overnight strikes targeted an industrial zone in Sumy and caused fires near the port of Odesa.

The UK's support is part of broader international efforts to sustain Ukraine's defence capabilities.
