UN Reports High Daily Deaths of Women and Girls in Gaza War

An average of 47 women and girls have been killed daily during the war in Gaza, according to figures published by UN Women.
The agency highlighted that these deaths have continued despite a fragile ceasefire in place since October 2025.
Between October 2023 and December 2025, more than 38,000 women and girls lost their lives in the conflict.
UN Women, which focuses on gender equality, noted that the proportion of female casualties in this conflict is significantly higher than in previous Gaza conflicts.
Sofia Calltorp, head of humanitarian action at UN Women, emphasized that these victims were individuals with lives and dreams, underscoring the human cost of the war.
The ceasefire that began in October 2025 ended two years of full-scale war but left Israeli troops controlling a depopulated zone covering over half of Gaza, while Hamas retained control of a narrow coastal strip.
Despite the ceasefire, violence has persisted, with over 750 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers killed in the last six months, according to local medics.
UNICEF reported that children continue to suffer, with at least 214 killed or injured in Gaza during the same period.
Approximately one million women and girls are displaced within Gaza, facing severe challenges accessing basic needs due to extensive infrastructure damage.
