Russia arrests German woman over alleged Ukraine-linked bomb plot

Russian security agency FSB has arrested a German woman in Pyatigorsk, southern Russia, accusing her of involvement in a bomb plot linked to Ukraine.
The woman was found carrying a makeshift bomb in her backpack, which authorities say was intended for an attack on a law enforcement facility in the Stavropol region.
The FSB stated that the device contained an explosive charge equivalent to 1.5 kilograms of TNT and was designed to be detonated remotely.
The agency said the attack was foiled by electronic jamming technology.
The woman, born in 1969, was reportedly recruited by a Central Asian national acting on orders from Ukraine.
This individual was also arrested near the targeted site.
Russia has arrested numerous individuals during the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, mostly on espionage charges.
However, arrests involving actual attack plots, especially involving Western citizens, are less common.
The FSB described the incident as a "terrorist attack planned by the Kyiv regime" against a law enforcement facility.
Videos released by Russian state media showed the arrest of the woman and the controlled explosion of the bomb.
Previous accusations by Russia have included claims of Ukraine collaborating with Islamic fundamentalists to carry out attacks inside Russia, though evidence has not been publicly presented.
For example, Russia alleged Ukrainian involvement in a 2024 concert hall attack claimed by ISIL, which Ukraine denies.
